What ClonBio Foods makes, and where our ingredients fit.
What does ClonBio Foods do?
ClonBio Foods converts European-grown barley and corn into functional food ingredients. Our two core ingredients, PurusPro® barley protein and FibAX® arabinoxylan fiber, are produced through a zero-waste, circular process and supplied to food and beverage manufacturers for use in bakery, cereals, snacks, dairy alternatives, and beverages.
Where do ClonBio Foods' ingredients come from?
Both PurusPro® and FibAX® are made from EU-grown, non-GMO grain. PurusPro® comes from barley; FibAX® is upcycled from corn bran, a co-product of corn processing. Sourcing locally within Europe keeps supply chains short and traceable.
Do PurusPro® and FibAX® work together in the same product?
Yes. Because PurusPro® contributes protein and FibAX® contributes fiber, the two are often combined in the same formulation, for example a high-protein, high-fiber bread, cracker, or breakfast cereal, to support multiple label claims from two ingredients rather than several.
PurusPro® Barley Protein
Protein content, flavour, and where it performs in a formulation.
What is PurusPro® barley protein?
PurusPro® is a barley-derived protein concentrate with a light brown colour and a mild, grain-forward flavour. It is produced from non-GMO, EU-grown barley and is designed as a clean-label protein source for bakery, cereal, snack, pasta, meat-alternative, and beverage formulations.
How much protein does PurusPro® contain?
PurusPro® contains over 65% protein and around 15% dietary fiber, so it can support both "high in protein" and "source of fiber" label claims in a single ingredient. It also carries the essential amino acids valine, leucine, and isoleucine, along with naturally occurring antioxidants and minerals.
What applications is PurusPro® used in?
PurusPro® is used across bakery goods, breakfast cereals and snacks, pasta and noodles, meat and plant-based meat alternatives, and health and wellness beverages. Its mild flavour and low carbohydrate content allow it to be added without disrupting taste or texture in most formulations.
Is PurusPro® non-GMO and clean label?
Yes. PurusPro® is made from non-GMO barley and can be labelled simply as barley protein. It is produced through a zero-waste circular process that uses less water and fertiliser than many other staple crops, and supports soil health through barley cultivation.
FibAX® Arabinoxylan Fiber
Fiber content, gut health function, and formulation benefits.
What is FibAX® arabinoxylan fiber?
FibAX® is a native arabinoxylan fiber derived from corn bran, a by-product of corn processing that would otherwise go to waste. It is soluble, stable across a wide pH and temperature range, and carries a high molecular weight structure with a naturally high ferulic acid content.
What is the fiber content of FibAX®?
FibAX® contains more than 85% fiber on a dry matter basis, with protein below 8%, starch below 0.5%, sugars below 1%, and lipids below 1%. This purity allows it to be used at meaningful inclusion rates without adding significant sugar, starch, or off-flavour to a formulation.
What gut health benefits does FibAX® provide?
FibAX® is fermented by beneficial gut bacteria and generates roughly three times more short-chain fatty acids, including butyrate and propionate, compared to common alternative fibers. Unlike inulin or resistant maltodextrin, it releases minimal sugar during digestion, and its structure supports delayed gastric emptying, which can help with appetite regulation.
Can FibAX® reduce sugar and fat in a formulation?
Yes. FibAX® supports sugar reduction of up to 30% and fat reduction of up to 30% in suitable applications, while also contributing water retention, extended freshness, and foam or emulsion stabilisation. It performs across bakery, beverages, dairy, cereals, and wellness categories.
